Steel shot is an ideal abrasive product. In the sand cleaning treatment of many castings, steel shot is used with good cleaning effect. Steel shot is also widely used in the descaling and rust removal treatment of steel workpieces before coating.
There are many classifications of steel shot. According to different hardness of steel shot, steel shot can be classified into steel shot, cast iron shot, glass shot, etc. Steel shot with different hardness has different purposes.
The hardness of steel shot is generally HRC40~50, and the hardness can be increased to HRC57~62 by processing some relatively hard metals. Their toughness is good, their service life is several times of that of cast iron shot, and their applications are wide.
The hardness of cast iron shot is HRC58~65. This kind of steel shot has high hardness, is very brittle for refrigeration, is very easy to break, and has short service life. It is not widely used. It is mainly used in places requiring high shot peening strength.
The hardness of glass shot is lower than that of the first two. It is mainly used for stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, magnesium and other conditions where iron pollution is not allowed. It can also be used for the second treatment after steel shot blasting to remove iron pollution and reduce the roughness of the part surface.
