  01. Surface roughness

The roughness of the workpiece surface is determined by the depth and size of the crater formed when the abrasive hits the workpiece surface. The kinetic energy of a single abrasive is large, the crater formed by impact is deep, the roughness value is large, the paint adhesion is good, and the amount of paint used is large; The kinetic energy of a single abrasive is small, the crater formed by impact is shallow, the roughness value is small, the paint adhesion is poor, and the amount of paint used is small.

When the kinetic energy of the abrasive is the same, the abrasive with sharp edges has the highest surface treatment efficiency, but the roughness of the workpiece surface will be too large, wasting paint; Semicircular and spherical abrasives can repair the crater caused by sharp edged abrasives, reduce the roughness value to the range required by PSPC, and meet the coating adhesion requirements. Therefore, when used on site, sharp abrasive and spherical abrasive are often used together.

  02. Surface coverage

The coverage of workpiece surface is the embodiment of shot peening efficiency. In the shot peening process, on the premise of meeting other quality requirements, the faster the required coverage of the workpiece surface is achieved, the higher the work efficiency is.

When the outlet pressure is the same, the nozzle shape is the same, the nozzle size is the same, and the abrasive size is the same, the cutting section and the medium with edges and corners are more efficient than the circular medium. However, if there are many sharp shaped abrasives or the abrasive shape is irregular, the friction resistance between the abrasive and the abrasive will increase, which will reduce the blasting speed of the abrasive and the kinetic energy of a single abrasive, thus reducing the blasting efficiency. Therefore, when used on site, sharp abrasives and spherical abrasives are often used together. The spherical abrasives are like lubricants, ensuring the kinetic energy of a single abrasive.

  03. Abrasive consumption and dust

The consumption of abrasives and the amount of dust generated directly affect the replacement frequency of consumables of dust removal equipment, the cleanliness of the surface of the workpiece to be treated, and the working environment of workers.
