Why do metals need sandblasting?

　　The benefits of sandblasting on metal surfaces are as follows:

　　(I) Pretreatment of workpieces for coating and bonding Sandblasting can remove all dirt such as rust on the surface of the workpiece, and establish a very important basic pattern (commonly known as the rough surface) on the surface of the workpiece. Moreover, by replacing abrasives of different particle sizes, such as the abrasives of Feizhan abrasives, the roughness can be achieved to different degrees, greatly improving the bonding force between the workpiece and the coating and plating. 　　(II) Cleaning and polishing of the rough surface of castings and workpieces after heat treatment Sandblasting can clean all dirt (such as oxide scale, oil and other residues) on the surface of castings and forgings after heat treatment, and polish the surface of the workpiece to improve the smoothness of the workpiece, so that the workpiece can reveal a uniform metal color, making the appearance of the workpiece more beautiful.

　　(III) Burr cleaning and surface beautification of machined parts Sandblasting can clean the tiny burrs on the surface of the workpiece, and make the surface of the workpiece smoother, eliminating the harm of burrs and improving the grade of the workpiece. And sandblasting can create very small rounded corners at the junction of the workpiece surface, making the workpiece more beautiful and more precise.

　　(IV) Improving the mechanical properties of parts After sandblasting, mechanical parts can produce uniform and fine concave and convex surfaces on the surface of the parts, so that lubricating oil can be stored, thereby improving lubrication conditions, reducing noise and increasing the service life of the machine.

　　(V) Polishing effect For some special-purpose workpieces, sandblasting can achieve different reflections or matte finishes at will. Such as polishing of stainless steel workpieces and plastics, polishing of jade, matte finish of wooden furniture surfaces, patterns on frosted glass surfaces, and roughening of fabric surfaces.
