The process of steel shot granulation is the whole process, and the main methods at present are impact method, centrifugal method and atomization method.
The impact method is to use high-speed and high-pressure water flow to break the molten steel, so that the liquid metal falls into the water to cool and solidify, and finally becomes a pellet. The disadvantage of this method is that the hollow ratio of the steel shot is high, and it is easy to form a special-shaped shot.
Centrifugal method is to pour molten steel onto a high-speed rotating disc, and many small holes are opened around the disc. The effect of centrifugal method is much better than that of impact method, which greatly reduces the proportion of hollow steel shot.
The atomization method is actually a combination of the impact method and the centrifugal method. First, the molten steel is placed on the surface of the rotating cone with special equipment to form a metal liquid film, and then atomized into fine droplets under the action of centrifugal force and surface tension and thrown out. At the same time, the cooling water is sprayed along the position perpendicular to the moving direction of the molten droplet, so that the molten droplet is rapidly cooled into pellets. The quality and comprehensive mechanical properties of the steel shot produced by this method are very good.
