  First, hardness. Steel shot too soft, can make clear at a slower pace, reduce work efficiency. Sandblasting reinforcement, too soft steel shot does not produce a suitable residual stress, low hardness sand forces could not have to compensate by increasing the impact time. Too high hardness will produce unsatisfactory surface topography, increase the breakage rate of elastic sand, make the consumption is too high, and wear the equipment is larger, increase the equipment maintenance cost, so the appropriate hardness is also the key.

  2. Microstructure. Steel shot must can resist deformation microstructure structure, role in working face, reduce the energy loss increase or decrease the fatigue life. Tempered martensite is the resistance to fatigue, in addition, the microstructure must reduce fragile carbide in the microstructure, otherwise it will cause steel grit premature rupture, increase the usage.

  3. Chemical composition. Decide the effect of heat treatment microstructure of steel shot and behind. Carbon content should be moderate, silicon, manganese, can improve the strength and hardness of steel shot, so try to higher. Sulfur, phosphorus is a harmful element, easy to make the steel shot produces brittleness, lead to premature rupture, should be low.

  4. Fatigue life. Fatigue life is the ability of steel shot sand to resist crushing when acting on the working surface. The abrasive with the longest fatigue life will become the most economical abrasive if it can transfer the appropriate energy into the cleaning.

  V. Physical defects. Steel shot must contain less as far as possible will cause abrasive broken physical defects. Because of the use of the production process of steel shot there are always some such physical defects. The production process must be controlled to reduce the proportion of defective particles.
