　　Steel shot is a consumable item in the process of shot blasting cleaning. New steel shot should be added from time to time according to the remaining steel shot amount of the equipment and the size of wear. Only in this way can the normal operation of the shot blasting machine and the cleaning effect of the workpiece be guaranteed.

　　Many customers contact us to inquire about the service life of steel shot. In fact, it is difficult to answer this question, because factors such as the size of the cleaned workpiece, the hardness of the workpiece material, and the type of shot blasting machine can all affect the consumption rate of steel shot. I want to calculate For the use cost of steel shot, it is best to count the amount of steel shot consumed in normal production within a month or a period of time, so that the calculation is reliable. Of course, we have contacted all kinds of customers, and I can share some experiences with you:

　　Casting workpieces: Large castings of the same weight consume less steel shot than small castings. This is easy to understand, because the surface area of large castings of the same weight is relatively small. The same casting is related to the hardness of its surface. The higher the hardness, the greater the consumption of steel shot; the lower the hardness, the less consumption. Usually, according to statistics, one ton of steel shot can clean about 100 tons of castings.

　　Shaped steel and molds: Because the types and hardness of steel processed by each company are different, the consumption rate varies greatly. The higher the hardness of the workpiece, the greater the loss. Basically, 1 ton of cast steel shot can process about 120-150 tons of steel.
