The steel shot and steel sand in the shot blasting machine must continuously impact the workpiece during the shot blasting process to remove the workpiece oxide scale, casting sand, rust, etc. While the steel shot and steel sand itself impact the workpiece, the steel shot and steel sand It must also have excellent impact resistance. That is to say, steel shot and steel grit materials must have strong ability to resist impact load (the ability of steel shot and steel grit to resist impact load without damaging is called steel shot and steel grit impact toughness). So what effect does steel shot and steel grit have on shot blasting strength?

  1. Hardness of steel shot and steel grit: When the hardness of steel shot and steel grit is higher than the hardness of the part, the change in its hardness value does not affect the shot blasting intensity; when the steel shot and steel grit are softer than the part, if the shot blasting hardness value decreases, Shot blasting intensity is also reduced.

  2. Shot blasting rate: When the shot blasting rate increases, the shot blasting intensity also increases, but when the rate is too high, the damage to the steel shot and steel grit increases.

  3. Thickness of steel shot and steel grit: The larger the steel shot and steel grit, the greater the impact kinetic energy and the greater the shot blasting intensity, but the consumption rate of steel shot and steel grit decreases. Therefore, while ensuring the strength of shot blasting, smaller steel shot and steel grit should be used as much as possible. In addition, the size of shot blasting is also limited by the shape of the part. When there is a groove on the part, the diameter of the steel shot and steel grit should be less than half of the inner radius of the groove. The shot blasting particle size is often selected between 6 and 50 mesh.
