Cast steel shot is made from high-quality steel scraps, which are first melted and then sprayed with high-pressure water to form the molten steel into small balls. The formed pellets are heated again to purify and homogenize, and then quenched. The quenched pellets are dried in the furnace and reheated and tempered to achieve the appropriate hardness. The tempered steel pellets are sorted through a mechanical screen into 11 grades that comply with SAE specifications for use in shot blasting equipment. Products with different particle sizes and hardness are used in different processes, such as surface strengthening, etc.

The crushing resistance and wear resistance of cast steel shots increase the service life of the ball, which is significantly related to the density and hardness of the ball. Only by effectively combining hardness and density can high-quality cast steel balls be produced. Next, let’s talk about the grinding of cast steel shot, which can be divided into three steps.

There are usually three processing methods for steel shot: rough polishing, medium polishing and fine polishing. In each handling process, finer abrasives should be used and the rotation speed of the polishing wheel should be appropriately reduced to obtain a finer polishing effect than the front polishing wheel. The specific polishing steps for steel shot depend on the roughness of the surface of the part. In order to improve the polishing quality of steel balls, the rough machining marks left by mechanical processing need to be worn. Due to the wide variety of cast steel shots and steel sand on the market, it is difficult to distinguish between genuine and fake ones. If you are careless, the purchased products will be substandard, resulting in waste. In order to achieve this grinding method, it is necessary to grind away the traces left by rough grinding to gradually improve the surface cleanliness of the parts. Otherwise, not only will you have to pay the cost of labor and materials, but the quality will not be guaranteed. Correctly choose and purchase professional shot blasting machines, shot blasting machines, and steel shot blasting machine manufacturers. In addition, in order to avoid repetition of polishing marks and improve the polishing quality and efficiency of the steel ball, the direction of the grinding wheel needs to intersect with the direction of the front rail during each polishing process. With the fierce competition in the abrasives market, only by continuously improving products can we win the love and recognition of more new and old customers.
